It is been accepted Christian doctrine since the founding of the church, but Pope Francis appears this morning to have abolished Hell.
In a move that will enrage conservative Catholics, the Pontiff told La Repubblica that the souls of unrepentant sinners were not punished in the afterlife, but simply disappeared.
“Hell doesn’t exist, the disappearance of the souls of sinners exists,” he told Eugenio Scalfari, a 93-year-old atheist philosopher, during a conversation in the Vatican.

Frankie must be trying to suave his conscience by denial. Just picture him with his index fingers in his ears saying "La, La, La, La.....there is no hell, there is no hell, there is no hell!"
Or ....
No not exactly...
The Vatican has apparently already backtracked:

Sigh. You're right, of course, Dawn Marie. I did notice that the so-called clarification didn't include an outright retraction, and of course these numerous "clarifications" never do. Francis the Talking Mule would make a better pope than Just Call Me Jorge.
Francis has made a statement contrary to our Lord and plain heresy. I have mentioned this many times, but how does the leadership of the SSPX reconcile their rapprochement with Francis and the Curia? This beyond the pale and the Vatican's non statement shows that is the essence of what Francis said to atheist compadre.
