Good day/evening to the forum members. My name is Laura and I living in Pittsburgh, PA. USA with my husband, Michael, of almost 20 years. We're Episcopalian, but I've been so alarmed and saddened with my church taking the path of sin for many years now. I am a cradle Episcopalian and it's very difficult for me to change denominations, but I feel I must. I'm very traditional and my friend Stephan-Karl encouraged me to seek information here on this board. Thank you, my friend, for your support.

I won't be posting much as this is a time of learning for me and all of the prayers and Catholic terms are so different for me - I find myself confused somewhat.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Love in Christ,

Laura

Welcome Laura!

I'm from Pittsburgh myself, although I now live on the Left Coast, where I am now stuck, probably for the duration. I am a cradle Catholic, formed well before Vatican II. I made my First Communion at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in 1953, a beautiful church which has now been taken over by the modernists, alas. Here is a photo of it for those who have never been to Pittsburgh:

Anyway, I hope you have a good experience on this board. You will find that much of the discussion involves criticism of the "mainstream" Catholic Church, and that not all members share exactly the same point of view regarding many issues (such as whether or not it is a good idea to attend a Traditional Latin Mass if it is offered by a priest belonging to x, y or z religious order), since there is so much confusion today, and with the shepherd (the Holy Father) having been struck (infected by modernism and no longer handing down the Deposit of Faith undefiled), the flock is having a hard time of it. The people here tend to be quite well-behaved, however; on many other traditional Catholic discussion forums there is bitter and scandalous in-fighting.

There is a long tradition of many Anglicans and Episcopalians converting to Catholicism and becoming quite saintly. Cardinal Newman and Edmund Campion come to mind immediately, of course, but there have been many others. Reading a good account of the English Reformation and the way that England, a Catholic county, was forcibly converted to Protestantism through the application of the rack and the gallows will improve your perspective immeasurably. I strongly recommend either Evelyn Waugh's biography of Edmund Campion or any of several historical novels on the subject by Monsignor Hugh Benson.

May God bless you. Remember to keep praying for light, and you will do fine!

David

Too bad the church went modern/liberal, David. Stephan-Karl helped me with churches in the SSPX and there is one here in Pittsburgh - not certain exact where - but I'm thinking of trying beginning in summer, when things are more relaxed. Take care of yourself over on the California.

Blessings in Christ,

Laura

Hello from the UK Laura,

You will be in my prayers too. :-)

You might like this Traditional Catholic Radio station which is posted about here http://op54rosary.ning.com/forum/topics/new-traditional-catholic-in.... I'm really enjoying listening to it and it's slowly growing as the months go by.

Thank you, Sunny-Gem,

Thank you for the links. I need everything I can get because it's confusing as to who is "okay" to look into and who not to.

Greetings and blessings from Pittsburgh,

Laura
