IN HONOUR OF SAINT RAPHAEL ARCHANGEL

O Christ, thy servants' wanderings spare;

for whom Thy Maiden-Mother's prayer

Beseeches at Thy throne of grace

Mercy before the Father's face.

Be near us, Angel from the skies,

Whose name God's healing signifies;

All ills of flesh take Thou away,

Bring health to souls from truth that stray.

Ye ninefold ranks of angel-choirs

Whose order for our help conspires,

All past and present ills dispel,

From future danger guard us well.

Drive far away in shamed disgrace

From Christian lands the faithless race:

That so the rule one shepherd hold

Over one flock, one single fold.

To God the Father praise be done,

Who hath redeemed us through His Son;

Anoints us by the Holy Ghost,

And guards us by the Angel-host.

O everlasting God, who hast ordained and constituted the ministries of angels and men in a wonderful order: Mercifully grant that, as thy holy angels always serve and worship thee in heaven, so by thy appointment they may help and defend us on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
