A Post for any Mums,

I only "homeed" one A Level subject but nevertheless we seem to have got something right! Tom's first year of A Level results came through this morning and he got an A - so pleased that trawlling through the syllabus and discovering Catholic and Catholic friendly historians has paid off.

Mostly I'm pleased because we could not find a regular, Catholic tutor, (although there was a really good Catholic tutor who marked some of his essays and helped with essay technique) - but it really is all his own work.

I'm chuffed to beans because we have not compromised on Catholicity - despite the British Edexcel textbook making positive reference to Karl Marx the historians he has had to read have been complimented by Catholic reading - so effectively  he has had to double up on his reading.

I'm pleased that he has been able to study the Crusades, The Angevin Empire, and the Lancastrians. This summer he has been reading up on the Spanish Inquisition for the essay component if you have any resources that are Catholic or at least not anti Catholic we'd be so very grateful.

Next year we have managed to find a tutor for the wretched essay component when Tom and I interviewed her she actually described herself as a "rabid atheist" but over the course of the conversation recognised that we just wanted someone to mark his essay (20%) of the exam marks - please pray for her conversion and that she does not damage Tomos's faith in anyway.

Three cheers for Catholicism and the Truth

God Bless

...a small amendment, the rabid atheist tutor has disappeared off the radar and been replaced by someone that Tom is much happier with.  Thanks fir you prayers.

Hi Susan, I homeschooled my three lads full time for 10 years then I sent them to the SSPX school. I have regretted some parts of that decision i.e. their loss of innocence or more like - a kind of worldliness that crept in through other kids influence and also an attachment to material goods that appeared in one of them...shame but we make these decisions in the efforts to do God's Will. There are many changes afoot with a change of headmaster so we will see what surprises September brings...

P.S. I have tasted the fruits of a truly grateful teenager today. Amazing!

Good luck with your home schooling.  I'll be praying for you.  Don't give up or become tempted.  Stay strong.

I home school my two youngest (13 and 14 yrs) and it is hard. You are receiving graces.
