The General House – Works of the Society
Erected first in 1979 at Rickenbach (Swiss canton of Solothurn), the General House has settled in Menzingen (Swiss canton of Zug) since 1993.
It is the residence of the Superior General, his two Assistants, the Secretary General and Bursar. It groups together the secretariat and the treasury so as to unite and facilitate exchanges and the management of the goods belonging to the Society.
A large community of oblate sisters of the Society ensures the atmosphere of religious life, conducts the housekeeping, and assists with secretarial work.
Organisation of Saint Pius X Society
The Society of Saint Pius X is a priestly society of common life without vows, founded by Archbishop Lefebvre, established in the Roman Catholic Church with Canonical approval on November 1st, 1970.
His Excellency Bishop Bernard Fellay
His Excellency Bishop Bernard Fellay was born on April 12, 1958 in Switzerland. He grew up near the seminary of Ecône where he entered in October 1977. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 1982 and immediately appointed Bursar General of the SSPX. He was moreover in charge of several youth groups and of pastoral ministry. He also made several apostolic journeys to countries of the Third World. On June 30, 1988, he was consecrated a bishop and carried on as Bursar General until his election as Superior General of the SSPX, in July 1994. In 1996, the General Chapter re-elected him for a second term of office. His Excellency Bishop Fellay is fluent in French, English and German and he knows Italian and Spanish.
