URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

- FSSP Priests attacked in Phoenix, Arizona, 1 murdered, 1 critica...

- Fr. Walker, rest in peace

The Mater Misericordiae Mission, the Latin Mass community of the Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona, run by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP), was the scene of a terrible tragedy on Wednesday night, following the breaking and entering of their church by armed burglars.
Father Kenneth Walker, FSSP, Associate Pastor, was murdered. Requiescat in pace. Please, pray also for the consolation of his family: his parents, brothers and sisters. Father Walker was 29.

Father Joseph Terra, FSSP, Pastor, was severely wounded by the criminals, and is (at least to our knowledge as of this moment) hospitalized in critical, but stable, condition. Please, pray for his health and his complete recovery, through the mercy of God Almighty.

Finally, let us also pray for their parishioners, the members of the Fraternity of Saint Peter, and all who are affected by this ordeal.

Let us pray for the law enforcement officers, may they accomplish justice according to God's will, with the help of Our Lady, Mirror of Justice.

Let us pray for the criminals, may they find conversion and salvation on this earth and avoid eternal damnation.

PHOENIX: FSSP priest shot and killed, another critically injured

Prayers.

Fr. Kenneth Walker, FSSP was shot and killed in Phoenix. He was 29 years old, according to an email from the FSSP, ordained two years. HERE  The other priest, Fr. Joseph Terra, is in critical condition from blunt force trauma.

1 priest killed, 1 wounded in Phoenix attack

A 28-year-old priest was shot and killed and another wounded at a Catholic church Wednesday night near the state Capitol, a Phoenix police spokesman said.

Police were responding to a burglary call shortly after 9 p.m. near 16th Avenue and Monroe Street at the Mater Misericordiae (Mother of Mercy) Mission, Sgt. Steve Martos said.

The wounded priest is in critical condition at a local hospital, police said. Police said early Thursday morning that the surviving priest, a 56-year-old man, was “physically harmed” but not stabbed or shot.

The surviving priest called 911, police said.

A car that police were seeking in connection with the attack was found at 17th Avenue and Taylor Street, about four blocks north of the church, Martos said. It was spotted by 12 News reporter Chris Williams, who alerted police.

The car was unoccupied when it was found, and Martos said no suspects have been arrested.

TU ES SACERDOS IN ÆTERNUM
SECUNDUM ORDINEM MELCHISEDECH

Father Kenneth Walker, FSSP, at the moment of his ordination, on May 19, 2012 - he is the first on the right.

Fr. Kenneth Walker, FSSP was born in Upstate New York near Poughkeepsie, the middle of 11 children (6 boys and 5 girls). His family moved frequently when he was young.
While his father was working construction in Wilmington, N.C, the family decided to build, with their own hands, a log cabin on some land they  owned in nearby Tennessee. Their intention was to sell the home, but they changed their minds and moved in.
While living there, they visited a used bookstore and found a book called The Incredible Catholic Mass. It described the Tridentine Mass, which they had never seen nor heard. The book was considered worthless and the storeowner gave it to them for free.
The family was intrigued. The more they learned about the Traditional Mass, the more they wanted it in their daily lives. On his own initiative, Fr. Walker began learning Latin. The family decided to sell their log cabin and move to rural Pennsylvania near Scranton where the Traditional Mass was offered. Fr. Walker eventually became an altar server at the FSSP Apostolate, and after attending Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom Academy in Ontario, entered the seminary.
He was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood in 2012.

May God grant rest to +Fr. Walker, and may God, in His mercy, help Fr. Terra to recover.  So very sad to hear this.

It calls to mind the prophecy of Our Lady, "the good will be martyred..."

In a news report on AZCentral it was stated that Fr. Terra is lucid and talking.  He let parishioners know that he was able to administer Extreme Unction (Last Rites) to Fr. Walker.  Deo Gratias!

I just listened to the interview with the priest and the priest said indeed Father Terra did struggle in his own agony to get over and give Fr. Walker Last Rites.  Holy incredibly amazing are these priests.

Praying

I think the same, Catherine. It shows up the times that we live in.

As I was praying my Rosary for the happy repose of Father's soul, I couldn't get the following thought out of my mind:

There was a time (not too very long ago) when even the worst thieves would not dare to touch a priest for fear of something happening to them. How very deluded and dark a soul must be to commit such an unspeakable crime against a consecrated priest of Our Lord.

Thank you for this updated info on this tragedy.  These priests have been on mind so often since you first shared the news.

May Fr. Walker Rest in Peace.

Eternal rest grant unto him, Oh Lord, May perpetual light shine upon him, May he rest in peace.  Praying for the recovery of Pastor Father Joseph Terra, FSSP.

I added Fr. Terra to St. Camillus's patient list.  Thank you for the suggestion, Alley.
