My banana bread was baking in the oven when my teen-aged son came into the kitchen where the family had gathered.
"That bread smells done, don't you think, Mom?" he asked.
I told him that I had set the timer and that it was fine.
A little later he repeated his suggestion. "Mom, I really think that loaf is done. Don't you think you should check it?"
Always quick to come to my defense, my younger son said, "Eddie, Mom's been burning that banana bread for years. I think she knows when to take it out."
No, this is not a true story.......but similar stories have occurred! Names and specific facts have been changed to shelter the guilty! :-D
Unable to attend the funeral after his Uncle Charlie had died, Peter called his faraway brother and asked him to do something nice for Uncle Charlie and send him (Peter) the bill.
Later, Peter received a bill for $200 which he paid. The next month, Peter received another bill for $200. Figuring it was some incidental expense, Peter also paid that bill.
BUT....when bills for $200 kept coming every month, Peter finally decided to phone his brother and find out what was going on.
"Well," said Peter's brother, "You said to do something nice for Uncle Charlie. So I rented him a tuxedo."

There was a captain sailing on the sea during a battle. His servant came up to him and the captain said, "bring me my red shirt".
So, the servant did as the captain said.
After that the servant came up to the captain and said, Why did you say bring me my red shirt"?
The captain said, "Well if i get shot they won't see the blood.
The next day the servant came up to the captain and said, "There are 50 ships on the horizon."
The captain said, "Bring me my brown pants."
