Excerpts from the book “The Admirable Secret of the Holy Rosary”, by San Luis María Grignon de Montfort:
The complete Rosary, with its 3 crowns, consists of a repetition of Hail Marys . It is a series of 153 Hail Marys, plus 16 Our Fathers and Glories. The Blessed Virgin revealed that it is a probable sign of condemnation to have negligence, warmth and aversion to Hail Mary; and that those who, on the contrary, feel devotion to this prayer have a great sign of predestination. All heretics , who are sons of the devil, and who bear the obvious signs of condemnation, are horrified to Hail Mary; they learn the Our Father, but not the Hail Mary, and they would rather carry a snake before a Rosary. Among Catholics , those who bear the sign of reprobation are barely interested in the Rosary, are negligent in praying it or pray it with annoyance and rashly .
By preaching Saint Dominic the Rosary in Carcassonne (in the South of France, at the beginning of the 13th century), he was brought a possessed heretic ; the saint exorcised him in the presence of more than twelve thousand people. The demons that possessed this miserable were obliged to answer the saint's questions, and confessed:
That there were fifteen thousand demons that were in the body of the possessed, because he had attacked the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary. That with the Rosary he preached, he brought terror and terror to all hell (that is, the infernal hosts), and that he was the man they hated most in the whole world because of the souls he took away from them with the devotion of the Rosary beads.
Santo Domingo threw his Rosary on the neck of the possessed and asked which of the saints in heaven feared most and which should be loved and honored by men. To this question the demons burst into screams so frightening that most of the listeners fell on land overwhelmed with horror. Evil spirits, not responding, cried and lamented in such a moving way that many of the attendees also cried for compassion. The demons said by mouth of the possessed man with a pitiful voice: "Sunday! Sunday! Have mercy on us! We promise you not to harm you!"
The Holy One, undeterred by these mournful words, responded to the demons that he would not cease to torment them until they had answered the question. The devils said they would answer, but in secret and in the ear. The saint insisted, ordering them to speak very loudly. The devils didn't want to say a word. Then Saint Dominic, on his knees, said to the Blessed Virgin this prayer: "O most excellent Virgin Mary, by virtue of your psaltery and Rosary, order these enemies of mankind to answer my question."
The devils exclaimed: "Sunday, we beg you, for the passion of Jesus Christ and for the merits of his holy Mother and those of all the saints, that you allow us to leave this body without saying anything, because the angels, whenever you want, they will reveal it to you. We are liars. Why do you want to believe us? Do not torment us any more, have mercy on us. " "You are unfortunate," said Saint Dominic, and, kneeling down, he addressed this new prayer to the Blessed Virgin: "O most dignified Mother of Wisdom, ... I beg you, for the health of the faithful present here, to force these your enemies to openly confess here the complete and sincere truth ”.
As soon as he finished this prayer, he saw the Blessed Virgin near him, surrounded by a multitude of angels, who with a golden rod in his hand hit the demoniac, saying : "Answer the question of my servant Domingo."
Then the demons began to shout, saying: "O our enemy! Oh ruin and confusion of ours! Why did you come from heaven to torment us so cruelly? Will it be necessary for you, oh lawyer of sinners , to who you take from hell ; oh sure way from heaven !, let us be obliged - in spite of ourselves - to confess before all that is the cause of our humiliation and ruin? Woe to us! Curse to our princes of darkness! Well, Christians! This Mother of Christ is omnipotent , and can prevent her servants from falling into hell . She, like a sun, dissipates the darkness of our cunning machinations. Discover our intrigues, break our nets and reduce all uselessness our temptations We are forced to confess that no one who perseveres in his service condemns us A single sigh that She presents to the Holy Trinity is worth more than all the prayers, vows and desires of all the saints We fear her more than all the blessed together and we can do nothing against her faithful servants .
Also keep in mind that many Christians who invoke her at death and who should be condemned according to ordinary laws, are saved thanks to her intercession. Ah! If this Marieta - that is what they called her in her fury - she would not have opposed our designs and efforts, we would have demolished and destroyed the Church and precipitated in error and infidelity to all her hierarchies! We have to add, with greater clarity and precision - bound by the violence they cause us - that no one who perseveres in the prayer of the Rosary will be condemned . Because she obtains for her faithful devotees the true contrition of sins, so that they may confess them and achieve their forgiveness. "
Then Santo Domingo prayed the Rosary to all the people very slowly and devoutly, and to every Hail Mary that the saint and the people prayed - surprising thing! - a great multitude of demons in the form of burning coals left the body of this unfortunate one. This miracle was the cause of the conversion of a large number of heretics, who even enrolled in the Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary, as happened with the possessed.
We end with another quote from that great apostle of the Rosary that was St. Louis Maria Grignon de Montfort: “ Believe me that you will receive the crown that will never wilt if you remain faithful to pray (the Rosary) devoutly until death … Notwithstanding the enormity of their sins, even if they were already at the edge of the abyss ..., will sooner or later become and will be saved, provided that, I repeat, pray devoutly, every day until death the Holy Rosary in order to know the truth and reach contrition and forgiveness of sins.
