Thank you for sharing .  It is so nice to see this film of Pope Leo XII.

I've only ever known vatii popes, it's nice to see a holy pope.  This pope is directly responsible for making sure America had Catholic hospitals, schools, orphanages etc.  Before he sent Mother Cabrini here there were no Catholic hospitals and few of the other things mentioned.  Catholicism still had not taken root just yet in brick and mortar needs like the hospitals, schools and such.  Many of the immigrants who came here had not even had the Sacraments for 30, 40 50 years or more.  America was a barren landscape for the most part where these things were concerned.  Catholicism was very hated by those who settled here after the revolutionary war.

At the time Catholics were refused treatment at the established hospitals explicitly because they were Catholic.  When Mother Cabrini got here on the mission Pope Leo XIII sent her on directly, she had her work cut out for her, but she proved to be up to the task.  With her hard work and faith and God's grace we would have Catholic hospitals, etc from then until now....well at least until Obama.  Sadly the Catholic hospitals that are left seem to be so in name only.

So grateful to Pope Leo XIII and Mother Cabrini <3
