During his recent visit to Brazil Pope Francis made a quote about Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. He said, "It's like having a grandfather at home. A very wise grandfather. In a family, a grandfather is at home, he is honored, loved and he is listened to."

The team of www.georgganswein.com have reflected on these words and we would like to propose the following initiative: "PENCILS FOR BENEDICT XVI"

.....around the World to send to us an email explaining what Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI means to you, your personal experiences, your reflections...
With all your mails we will make up a book to deliver to Benedict XVI along with a box of pencils. These are symbolic gestures, through which each one of us shows him our love, respect and appreciation. It is a way to ask him to never stop writing in order that one of God's most exquisite instruments may continue to resonate.

Oh my gosh!  I just got an email back from the coordinators of this project and they said they wanted to confirm with me that my message to Pope Benedict would be in the book!  I was seriously not expecting that.......

Looks like one of us needs to send an eraser and a pencil sharpener! Without which the pencils would become useless! Of-course we do know whats the purpose of the ERASER and a PENCIL SHARPENER!
