Obama Gives Rosary Blessed by Pope Francis to Nancy Pelosi

Following his visit with Pope Francis at the Vatican last week, President Obama has given a rosary that was blessed by the pontiff to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

On Tuesday, Pelosi discussed Obama’s gift to her with reporters after a luncheon with the president at the White House.

As the Washington Times reports, Pelosi said, “I was happy to receive a rosary blessed by Pope Francis. It means a great deal to me.”

Though Pelosi claims to be Catholic, she is an avid supporter of abortion and same-sex marriage, both of which conflict with the teachings of the Church.

At a gala Planned Parenthood event on March 27th, Pelosi accepted the Margaret Sanger Award, named for the famous eugenicist, for her work defending abortion rights. As Politico reported, Pelosi rebuked the pro-life community and criticized “personhood” laws, stating that the struggle for reproductive rights will continue whatever the Supreme Court decides on the HHS mandate.

Speaking about pro-life individuals, Pelosi said, “…When you see how closed their minds are or oblivious or whatever it is – dumb – then you know what the fight is about.”

Last year, Cardinal Raymond Burke, chief justice of the Vatican’s highest court, said that Pelosi should not receive communion.

“Certainly this is a case when Canon 915 must be applied,” Burke explained. “This is a person who obstinately, after repeated admonitions, persists in a grave sin – cooperating with the crime of procured abortion – and still professes to be a devout Catholic.”

Burke added that Pelosi is an example of a Catholic who separates her faith from day-to-day living.

“This is a prime example,” said the cardinal, “of what Blessed John Paul II referred to as the situation of Catholics who have divorced their faith from their public life and therefore are not serving their brothers and sisters in the way that they must – in safeguarding and promoting the life of the innocent and defenseless unborn, in safeguarding and promoting the integrity of marriage and the family.”

Grrr!  Grrr!  Grrrrr!

If they would only use the beads like they are meant to be used, (in penitential prayer) maybe they could save their sin-sick souls!  But no, they just think they are pretty little trinkets - souvenirs from the trip.  Grr!  Grrr!

Meanwhile there may be souls burning in hell because of those two!

Sorry for the rant

Agreed Matthew :)

I had to keep my self from making the first comment on this post...I guess that makes me a chicken!!  I did not want to go off the deep end and sound like some sort of bomb throwing Lefvebvrian.  I don't know how to post items to a page so I haven't posted this:  "Pope Francis criticises ‘anaesthetised’ Catholics"

Yeah, the Pope.....he is the Pope....I'm going to keep thinking that because there must be a reason for all of the sad examples of Popes....this one is incoherent.....I'm sorry, there I go again.....but yeah, the Pope was all smiles with Obama.....  What is going on?!  A Rosary?!  He gave Obama a Rosary?!  Is that not proselytism?  Is that not solemn nonsense?  Pelosi?!  Somebody stop me!!

ARCHBISHOP LEFEBVRE:

"The current Pope and bishops no longer hand down Our Lord Jesus Christ, but rather a sentimental, superficial, charismatic religiosity, through which, as a general rule, the true grace of the Holy Ghost no longer passes. This new religion is not the Catholic religion; it is sterile, incapable of sanctifying society and the family." (Spiritual Journey, p.9) Archbishop Lefebvre

[Vatican II was] “the letting loose of the forces of evil for the ruin of the Church.”
Lefebvre, “The Council or the Triumph of Liberalism” [French], Fideliter, No. 59 (Sept.-Oct. 1987), p.33.
