On 16 December 2016, in the chapel of San Gennaro in Naples, the "miracle of St. Janvier" did not take place. The blood contained in the bulb remained solid [see photo above], which is perceived as "a dark omen".

Indeed, examples in recent history where blood has not liquefied abound: in September 1939, a few weeks after the beginning of the Second World War; In September 1940, in correspondence with the entry of Italy into the conflict; In September 1943, the date of the Nazi occupation; In September 1973, before the outbreak of a cholera epidemic in Naples; As well as in September 1980, a month before a terrible earthquake struck Irpinia near Naples, killing nearly 3,000 people.

According to the agency cath.ch December 19, 2016, the prelate in charge of the chapel of San Gennaro, Bishop Vincenzo De Gregorio , the bulb still in hand, has sought reassurance facing the congregation:

"We must not think of catastrophes and calamities. We are men of faith, and we must continue to pray. "

On 20 December 2016, on the site Reinformation.tv, Anne Dolhein recalled that "  disasters are not lacking in the modern world, nor war, and so really no miracle of Saint Gennaro has a meaning, it is Well to incite men to turn to the Prince of Peace, the source of all good, which alone saves man from sin and which alone can bring the solution to the most desperate situations. "

Officially, the liquefaction of the blood of St. Janvier is not considered a miracle, but as a "prodigious event."

This happens three times a year  : the Saturday before the first Sunday in May, the anniversary of the transfer of the remains of the saint, on 19 September, the anniversary of his martyrdom in 305, December 16, the anniversary of the Eruption of the Vesuvius of 1631 which caused 4,000 deaths but spared the city of Naples.

St. Janvier,  intercede for us that we may remain steadfast amidst tribulations. Amen.
