Good day/evening to the forum members. My name is Laura and I living in Pittsburgh, PA. USA with my husband, Michael, of almost 20 years. We're Episcopalian, but I've been so alarmed and saddened with my church taking the path of sin for many years now. I am a cradle Episcopalian and it's very difficult for me to change denominations, but I feel I must. I'm very traditional and my friend Stephan-Karl encouraged me to seek information here on this board. Thank you, my friend, for your support.

I won't be posting much as this is a time of learning for me and all of the prayers and Catholic terms are so different for me - I find myself confused somewhat.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Love in Christ,

Laura

Welcome Laura,   May God bless you and your family.

Dawn - Unfortunately I'm not a native of PA, as I'm a native of Houston, Texas. I can no longer take the heat and traffic of my hometown. Pittsburgh suits my husband and myself very well and we are so happy to be here since 2008. I've been wanting to explore Erie and the surroundings for quite a while now.

But being at the Episcopal Cathedral here in Pittsburgh has put us epicenter in the huge ugly split in our faith as the previous Bishop leads a splinter group now of conservative Episcopalians who wanted to take money and resources from the national church - and this left all the super liberal folks now to run the main Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh. There are still some conservative holdouts like myself, my new Cathedral Dean and our new Bishop, but it's few and far between. I just felt the old Bishop was more power hungry than faith driven and I could not align myself with him.

The church is NOT what it was when I was a child. I believe there is no saving it. I am pretty ultra conservative and would welcome learning the latin mass and many of the beliefs you folks here put forth. It's just a HUGE learning curve for me as we don't have the same emphasis on Mary and all the Madonnas and other Saints.

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone, I am here to learn and listen.

Blessings to you all from Pittsburgh -

Laura

My husband's family is from Pittsburgh so the area is near and dear to my heart.  His aunt and uncle (now deceased) lived in Houston for many years and he still has cousins in that end of Texas.  :-)

If we can help you in any way or answer any questions you might have, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Cathleen

Thank you, Cathleen. I find I am, indeed, making some posts.

Since everything I've known to now is based on the worldwide Anglican Communion, my posts may have a bit coming from that tradition. I am not espousing those views. I am sharing the steps in faith that have lead me to your door. I hope there is some understanding of that element of my offerings.

Glad you are here Laura! We will be praying for you to receive the graces to learn about the Catholic Faith, Our Lord , His Holy Mother and all the saints. Be patient! My oldest son went to Texas A & M in College Station and my sister lives in Mineral Wells...outside of Ft. Worth! There are many wonderful Catholic people on this site...don't hesitate to ask any questions. This will be a wonderful journey for you and your family. God bless you!   Bernadette

Thank you, Bernadette. My niece and sister-in-law are A&M grads. I went to Texas Tech and the University of Houston. I also have a niece (TCU grad) who still lives in Ft. Worth. My family is all in Texas. We have no family here in Pittsburgh on either side. My husband is a New Yorker and his family is all Northeast.
