Francis Worried the TLM May Become an Ideology-Says Church is "Obsessed" With Preaching Against Abortion, Gays, & Contraception

Francis, in the first extensive interview of his six-month-old papacy, said that the Roman Catholic Church had grown “obsessed” with preaching about abortion, gay marriage and contraception, and that he has chosen not to speak of those issues despite recriminations from some critics.

“It is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time,” the pope told the Rev. Antonio Spadaro, a fellow Jesuit and editor in chief of La Civiltà Cattolica, the Italian Jesuit journal whose content is routinely approved by the Vatican.

“The dogmatic and moral teachings of the church are not all equivalent. The church’s pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently.

“We have to find a new balance,” the pope continued, “otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel.”

And while he agreed with the decision of his predecessor, Pope Benedict, to allow the broader use of the traditional Latin-language Tridentine Mass, he said that the more traditional Mass risked becoming an ideology and that he was worried about its “exploitation.”

If this were any other time in history, especially the middle ages Francis would already have been forcibly an physically yanked from the Throne of Peter.

We have become a slothful bunch, making excuses for these men at every turn.  Even when they openly and publicly blaspheme the Mother of God and the Mystical Church.

God have mercy on us!  We get what we have coming for allowing this to continue unchecked.

6 months!  That's all the longer he's been in the Throne of Peter!  It feels like 60 years.

Reparation needs to be made and "WE" are the ones chosen to make it!!

Holy Hour of reparation tomorrow and as often as I can to console Jesus

and Mary, with love.

"New Balance"  that doesn't sound good!  "Traditional Mass risked becoming an Ideology."  "Worried about its exploitation." This is not going to end well!!

Exactly...

Perhaps Blasphemy, Irreligion, abuse of Our Lord's Supper, the Chasm of Hell into which so many souls fall, the lack of love and gratitude toward Our Savior and His Mother, would be a better topic for our preachers.

Lord help us!

This speaks volumes.  The Church is too obsessed talking about matters of natural law and procreation.  This is madness, it opens the door to all sorts of intended or unintended conclusions.  I am sure his apologists will say that nothing said is ex cathedra, but does it matter?  The damage is already done.  Of course the traditional Mass is an ideology as are the laws set down by Christ.  They are both ways of  life.  It is the fact that this is contrary to his liberal views and practices.  It is is at odds and will always provide an irritation to him as he walks the Church downs this path of ruin.  He denigrates tradition and traditional Catholics at every turn, to make us become "the Other", that can be seen as a source of scorn and ridicule.  All this is intentional.  Why the leadership of the SSPX has not come out swinging is beyond me.  It makes the society look weak and incapable of response.

You said it so well Michael+

Even John Vennari has grown silent in the face of this atrocity.  Not one word out of any of them at least concerning the blasphemy Francis spoke of concerning Our Lady.  It is disappointing to say the least, and very aggravating.

"Rome will become the seat of the Antichrist" Our Lady of La Salette

We've been trying to figure this guy out; his mannerisms and words do not jibe with total teachings of Jesus Christ. Very disappointing and Oct. 13, 2013 will probably be the same. Our Blessed Lady weeps for us because we suffer unnecessarily.
