On May 28, 2011, Open House day for the school Saint-Michel-Garicoïts, in the lively colors of the Pays Basque! Deep blue sky, whitewashed walls and freshly repainted sang de boeuf shutters, dancers in the same colors and txistu players in the traditional costume, too! Domezain spent a few hours living in the time of “Ramuntcho” thanks to its new director, Fr. David Aldalur, a child of the country if there ever was one, and profoundly attached to the ancient customs and to Tradition! “God and Tradition” is written on the façade of the school. It is the proud blazon of the Basques and the day lived up to this motto perfectly: Fr. Niklaus Pfluger, first assistant of the Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X, celebrated Mass. During his sermon, he recalled that the essential is to find Jesus Christ without going astray with the temptations of the world, without seeking a “scapegoat” to explain difficulties and persecutions.
After a luncheon shared by more than 300 people, shooting stands, angling, pony rides, a rummage sale, etc…were an opportunity for everyone to relax and meet each other. The play performed by the students of the school was introduced by a word from their director who presented his educative and spiritual program, placing it in a “hermeneutics of continuity” with his predecessor, Fr. Nicolas Pinaud (in this case, it is possible, since there are no contradictions to unite!), – who was at the head of the school for 15 years. For while men change, explained Fr. Aldalur, the goal to be reached remains the same: to give Jesus Christ to the children with all our hearts! (Source: FSSPX-France – DICI#237, June 25, 2011)
