I really don't understand all the confusion concerning this poor priest but now they are saying there are reports he is alive and well and was not crucified.  Apparently the confirmation from Schonborn was not an official Vatican confirmation.

In any case he is being held captive so he needs prayers no matter what.

God has used muslims as a scourge against his disobedient people before, and appears to be doing it again. (Not to suggest that the good Father was disobedient; I refer to the mass of so-called Catholics today.) Please do not give credence to reports coming from other sources (eg. some convent of sisters, other bishops/cardinals/priests,

Archbishop Paul Hinder said on Monday, 28th March that he has “strong indications that Fr Tom is still alive in the hands of the kidnappers”. Spreading false rumors and unconfirmed reports might actually jeopardize the safety of Fr Tom.

The best that we can do at present is to pray to the Almighty for him, his close relatives and all persons who are persecuted for their faith.‪
