Réquiem ætérnam dona ei Dómine; et lux perpétua lúceat ei. Requiéscat in pace. Amen.
Thank you for letting us know. I had wondered about it, as it's confusing sometimes sorting through news reports (which is correct, etc.)
May God grant him eternal rest. May God grant repentance to his murderers.
I really don't understand all the confusion concerning this poor priest but now they are saying there are reports he is alive and well and was not crucified. Apparently the confirmation from Schonborn was not an official Vatican confirmation.
In any case he is being held captive so he needs prayers no matter what.
Pray, pray and pray and pray again for the people that are being martyrs for the faith.
God has used muslims as a scourge against his disobedient people before, and appears to be doing it again. (Not to suggest that the good Father was disobedient; I refer to the mass of so-called Catholics today.) For those who think that the age of martyrs belongs to the dim past, this should be an eye-opener.
To help you distinguish the authentic reports regarding the situation of Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil, SDB, from the false rumors doing the rounds, here is a list of credible primary sources:
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of the Government of Indiahttp://www.mea.gov.in
Archbishop Paul Hinder OFMCap, Apostolic Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia (AVOSA) which includes Yemenhttp://avosa.org
The Provincial / Provincial Secretary of the Salesian Province ofBangalore to which Fr Tom SDB belongs. http://dbbangalore.org
The General Council of the Salesian Congregation based in Romehttp://sdb.org/en
Please do not give credence to reports coming from other sources (eg. some convent of sisters, other bishops/cardinals/priests,
astrologers/godpersons/newsanchors/politicians, etc.) unless the news has been confirmed by any of the above-mentioned primary sources.
Archbishop Paul Hinder said on Monday, 28th March that he has “strong indications that Fr Tom is still alive in the hands of the kidnappers”. Spreading false rumors and unconfirmed reports might actually jeopardize the safety of Fr Tom.
The best that we can do at present is to pray to the Almighty for him, his close relatives and all persons who are persecuted for their faith.
A video demanding millions of dollars in return for an Indian priest kidnapped in Yemen has reportedly been sent to the Indian Government who are attempting to secure his release.
