Christmas preparations - December 23

If you were standing outside of St. Jude’s Church in Eddystone (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania, on Sunday, December 23rd, you would have heard the rustling of trees, sound of light switches going on and off, and excited laughter of children.

The first two sounds came from up in the chapel, where workers were putting up Christmas trees, and others checking to see if such and such strand of lights worked; before they went on the trees, while the pastor, Fr. Jordan Fahnestock, braved the heights and placed a wreath on a high window.

But the “please pass the skittles,” and “oh nooo! My roof collapsed,” was coming from the chocolate-covered mouths of the little people, as they each skillfully created one-of-a-kind gingerbread houses in the church hall, while their parents and older siblings were upstairs helping decorate the church.
