Immediately before reading this article about Christ's curse on those who reject Our Lady, I had just finished praying Prime.  In today's Martyrology in that Office was included along with the great St Augustine, Alexander, who also died on 28th of August:

"At Constantinople, [in the year 340,] holy Alexander, [Arch-] Bishop [of that see,] that glorious old man by the power of whose prayer the judgement of God smote Arius so that he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. "

Such was the end of the arch heretic Arius who denied the divinity of Christ, and thereby the title of  Mother of God to Our Lady.

That's amazing.  Yikes!

Wow!  I vaguely remember reading that Arius met a bad end, but didn't know the details.  Very sobering.

Thank you, Adele.
