The Basilica of Santa Maria in Montesanto is a beautiful Catholic church in Rome that was built in the 17th century. Of course it is currently occupied by the Novus Ordo Modernists, like most Catholic churches in the world, so it has long been profaned. However, its latest “art” display takes the sacrilege to a whole new level.

In the basilica, which is also known as the “Church of the Artists”, there is currently displayed a homo-erotic sculpture that blasphemously mocks Michelangelo’s beautiful and famous Pietà.

The Pieta is an artistic rendition of the Mother of Sorrows holding the dead Body her Divine Son taken off the Cross on Good Friday. For comparison’s sake, we first display the pious and godly rendition — truly sacred art — made by Michelangelo (1475-1564):

And now the sickening mockery of the same currently on display at Santa Maria in Montesanto:

What we see there shouldn’t need any comment, simply describing it will be enough. We see a nude, bald, middle-aged man in agony, half-squatting, holding a young man with long hair, deceased, also nude. We’ll just leave it at that.

This disgusting work of “art” was created by the Italian sculptor Jago (b. 1987), whose real name is Jacopo Cardillo. This Jago isn’t just anyone: On Nov. 21, 2012, he received the “Pontifical Medal” from Benedict XVI after creating a bust of the false pope. After Benedict’s resignation of 2013, he modified the bust, as shown in this video:

Jago’s latest sculpture fits the Vatican II Church perfectly: perverted art for a perverted religion. As with the Vatican’s harrowing “Nativity scene” display in 2017 and “Abp.” Vincenzo Paglia’s homoerotic mural featuring himself, this stuff is now in your face.

They do it because they can.
