N*B* This appeal was posted on FE by an individual named Scotus   http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/index.php/topic,3446700.0.html

I did fill out the form set up by the Christian Institute.  However I will admit some of the questions I had to re-read a few times.

QUOTE SCOTUS:

You may or may not be aware that the Scottish Government is currently running a 14-week public consultation on whether to redefine marriage under Scots Law to include homosexual unions. The deadline for responses to the consultation is the 9th of December.

The Scottish Bishops have been running a postcard campaign which about a month ago had at least 14,000 replies against same-sex 'marriage'. Then, suddenly, the Scottish Government turned around and said that these postcards would only count as one response to the consultation. That is why we have been pushing for both postcards and individual responses to the consultation*.

Today, there was some more rather surprising news:

Dirty Tricks from the Scottish Government

Despite an initial assurance to the Scottish Catholic Parliamentary Office by the Scottish Government that this is a "Scottish consultation", it appears that the pro-homosexual 'marriage' campaign has been actively recruiting supporters outside of Scotland to submit responses! When someone contacted the office responsible for the consultation earlier today they were told that “replies outside Scotland will be distinguished from those within” i.e. they will play some part in the process. So, the Scottish Government will accept responses from outside of Scotland - it's just that they managed to let the pro-homosexual 'marriage' campaigners know and somehow forgot to tell those campaigning against same-sex 'marriage'.

This is news to our side since there is just over a week to go to the deadline! The goalposts are changing to help the other side win and make it look as  if there is a groundswell of popular opinion in favour of same-sex 'marriage' in Scotland.

Therefore...

...can I ask you all, of your charity, to at least consider submitting a response to the Scottish Government to say that you disagree with its plans to redefine marriage?

You can either use the Government’s on-line Consultation Response Form. The fuller the response the better, however, it is quite a long-winded set of questions and No 18 is actually quite ambiguous.

Alternatively, the Christian Institute has set up a website to simplify the process of submitting a response to the Scottish Government. Their simplified on-line response form can be found here
