November 26, 2019 St. Sylvester and St. Peter of Alexandria
Dear Dawn,
Blessed be Jesus Christ and His most pure Mother! Réquiem ætérnam dona eis, Dómine, et lux perpétua lúceat eis.
Mrs. (name redacted for privacy purposes) recommended that I contact you. I hope you are willing and able to help me with a special project.
My name is Fr. Michael Rodríguez, and I am a Catholic priest of the Diocese of El Paso, TX. I have offered the Traditional Latin Mass exclusively since September 2011.
In November of 2014, my Bishop, Most Rev. Mark Seitz, removed me from Sacred Heart Mission, in Shafter, TX, where he had assigned me as Administrator. His reason for my removal was because I would not offer the Novus Ordo Missæ (the New Mass). Out of fidelity to Christ and the perennial lex orandi, lex credendi of the Roman Catholic Church, I cannot in good conscience offer the Novus Ordo. For the past five years, my Bishop has left me with no pastoral assignment and no salary.
Throughout the past five years I have worked hard, in difficult circumstances, to continue teaching and promoting the Traditional Latin Mass and authentic Catholic doctrine. During this time I have also dedicated considerable prayer and effort to discern God’s holy Will for my priesthood.
Numerous events have transpired over the past couple of years, including those related to the terrible crisis afflicting the Church and the Papacy, which have contributed to my present decision.
For the past five years, I have not had a personal residence; relying on Divine Providence, I have lived in the home of a generous benefactor. Now I have made the decision to purchase a personal residence in the rural outskirts of El Paso. The four-acre property includes a home (3900 sq. ft.), small house (700 sq. ft.), barn (5000 sq. ft.), and two water wells. Although this private property will serve as my personal residence, it will also serve a far nobler purpose. With the help of God, it shall be a private location housing a private chapel, where our precious Catholic Faith is taught, lived, preserved, and promoted, for the good of the souls who choose to profit by it. This private property and chapel shall be named: The Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Mary.
This is obviously a major venture which will require the financial assistance of many, both now and in the future. I appeal to you for such assistance. Please be as generous as you can. My present hope is to raise $200,000 (two-hundred thousand dollars) in donations over the course of the next year.
If you are able, please consider donating about $80 to $85 a month, for the next twelve months (December 2019 thru November 2020), which would amount to an approximate total of $1000. With the help of two-hundred such benefactors, the goal will be reached. May God’s holy Will be done.
Please do not be discouraged if your financial resources are very limited; donate what you can—even if it’s only a total of $10, $20, or $50 dollars. Every little bit counts (thank you!), and I plan to continue seeking out a greater number of potential benefactors. I am hoping you might be able to help me identify more potential benefactors.
Above all, whether your monetary donation is large or small, please keep this “venture for the Catholic Faith” in your prayers: May God have mercy on this effort, and bless it; may He cause the light of His countenance to shine upon it, and may He have mercy on us. (Ps 66:2)

If you know of others who may be willing to help with this project, please encourage them on a private basis to do so. You can send me either their email or mailing address, and I will contact them. If you are willing to spread the word in a more public way (via the internet), please consult with me first. Thank you! If you have further questions about this project, please feel free to contact me at this email address: frmichaelrodriguez@gmail.com
At present, I am a priest in good-standing of the Diocese of El Paso. Not knowing how long this may or may not last, I continue to entrust my canonical status to Our Blessed Mother. I hope to remain in good-standing, but above all, I intend to remain faithful to the perennial worship (the Traditional Latin Mass) and doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church, come what may. This is the raison d’être (the most important purpose) of acquiring this property, along with the special mission of offering honor, gratitude, reparation, reverence and love to the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of the most holy Mother of God.
May God in His goodness bless your generosity, and may Our Lady intercede for you.
Ad Iesum per Maríam,
Fr. Michael Rodríguez Diocese of El Paso, TX
