Event Description

This novena is for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.  It is especially recommended to try to visit a cemetery on All Souls Day and in the days right afterwards, to try to gain indulgences for the Poor Souls.  If you can, bring holy water on those visits.

This is separate from the novena already organized to the Holy Souls, which is not only for their relief but also to ask for their help.

My soul is athirst for the Living God: when shall I come and appear before the face of the Lord?

May light eternal shine upon them, O Lord.

With Thy saints forever, because Thou are merciful.

Let us pray:

O God, to Whom it belongs always to have mercy and to spare, be gracious to the souls of the faithful departed, and grant them the remission of all their sins, that, being freed from the bonds of death, they may enter into life eternal.   Through Christ, our Lord. +Amen

Psalm 129

Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord!  Lord, hear my voice.

Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

If Thou, O Lord, shalt mark iniquities, Lord, who shall stand?

For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness; and by reason of Thy law I have waited for Thee, O Lord.

My soul hath relied on His word; my soul hath hoped in the Lord.

From the morning watch even unto night, let Israel hope in the Lord.

Because with the Lord there is mercy; and with Him plentiful redemption.

And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let Thy perpetual light shine upon them.

May all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  +Amen

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen."

My Jesus, mercy!
