Novena to St. Philomena

Event Details

Event Description

For the intentions of the Rosary Crusade and for our own private intentions

O faithful virgin and glorious martyr, St. Philomena, who works so many miracles on behalf of the poor and sorrowing, have pity on me.  Thou knows the multitude and diversity of my needs.  Behold me at thy feet, full of misery but full of hope.  I entreat thy charity, O great Saint!  Graciously hear me and obtain from God a favorable answer to the request which I now humbly lay before thee...(here specify your petition).  I am firmly convinced that through thy merits, through the scorn, the sufferings and the death thou did endure, united to the merits of the Passion and Death of Jesus, thy Spouse, I shall obtain what I ask of thee and in the joy of my heart I will bless God , who is admirable in His Saints.  Amen.

Zena,

Here is a link from the Universal Living Rosary site, which has St. Philomena's story.  The "Readers Digest Condensed Version" of it is that she was 13 yrs old and had already consecrated herself to Jesus Christ and vowed never to marry.  The Roman Emperor had asked for her hand in marriage, but she refused.  That led eventually to her martyrdom.  Because she so bravely and willing suffered everything for Jesus, and refused nothing for His Sake, now He refuses no request from her:  "To Philomena nothing is refused."

Thank you for posting it Cathleen.  I'm amazed at the number of souls who have such a devotion to sweet Saint Philomena.

This novena has the most souls praying it then any novena we have ever done.  How truly wonderful!  God be glorified in His angels and in His Saints+

Sweet Saint Philomena, pray for us!

I'm glad I thought to post this novena.  :-)  I almost didn't because of everything else we have going on.  :-)  Maybe St. Philomena gave me a nudge?  :-)
