Event Description

Because St. Philomena refused nothing to her beloved Jesus, in turn He refuses nothing she asks for.  St. Philomena is invoked for "anything" but especially in desperate or "impossible" cases.

O faithful virgin and glorious martyr, St. Philomena, who works so many miracles on behalf of the poor and sorrowing, have pity on me.  Thou knows the multitude and diversity of my needs.  Behold me at thy feet, full of misery but full of hope.  I entreat thy charity, O great Saint!  Graciously hear me and obtain from God a favorable answer to the request which I now humbly lay before thee...(here specify your petition).  I am firmly convinced that through thy merits, through the scorn, the sufferings and the death thou did endure, united to the merits of the Passion and Death of Jesus, thy Spouse, I shall obtain what I ask of thee and in the joy of my heart I will bless God , who is admirable in His Saints.  Amen.

I feel like I need to share this story to ask St. Philomena's pardon for past offenses and to encourage others to pray to her.

Eight years ago I was expecting my 11th child and was told that she had a cleft palate.  I prayed to St. Philomena and asked her to heal the baby before she was born.  This prayer wasn't answered, at least not the way I wanted.  The baby not only had a cleft palate but was also diagnosed with Trisomy 13, a genetic condition which ultimately led to her early death at 25 days old.  I was devastated and "was upset" at St. Philomena.

Looking back, though, St. Philomena answered my prayers not the exact way that I wanted but in the way that was ultimately best for my baby girl. Many of these babies with this condition die in utero.  She almost died at birth, due to placental separation and bleeding.  She survived that and, thank God, Our Lady and St. Philomena, she was baptized.  After she was baptized, she briefly rallied but then slowly went downhill and ultimately died after her heart stopped.  But she touched the lives of many of the nurses and doctors in the NICU.  Most importantly, because of her baptism, her pure little soul went straight into Our Lady's arms to intercede for her family here on earth.

So, thank you, St. Philomena for answering my prayers in the way best for my baby girl and not what her selfish mother thought -- and please forgive me for my ungrateful behavior.

Please pray for her help.  She does hear and answer prayers.
