Event Description
Blessed St. Patrick, Apostle of Ireland, who did become a father and friend to me for ages before my birth, hear my prayer and accept, for God, the sentiments of gratitude and veneration with which my heart is filled. Through thee I have inherited that faith which is dearer to me than life. I now make of thee my representative of my thanks, and the mediator of my homage to Almighty God. Most holy father Patrick, patron of Ireland, despise not my weakness; remember the cries of little children were the sounds which rose, like a mysterious voice from Heaven, and invited thee to come among us.
Listen then to my humble supplication. May my prayer ascend to the throne of God, with the praises and blessings which shall ever sanctify thy name and memory. May my hope be animated by the patronage and intercession of my forefathers, who now enjoy eternal bliss, and owe their salvation, under God, to thy courage and charity. Obtain for me the grace to love God with my whole heart, to serve Him with my whole strength, and to persevere in good purposes to the end. O faithful shepherd, who would have laid down thy life a thousand times for one soul, take my soul, and those dear to me, under thy special care. Grant that all hearts may share the blessed fruits of that Gospel thou did plant and water. And grant that as our ancestors did learn, under thy guidance, to unite science with virtue, we too under thy patronage may learn to consecrate all Christian duty to the Glory of God.

I'm in that same boat DM, I have "Irish heritage" and have never prayed
a novena to St Patrick, although you wouldn't be able to tell by my name lol.

Thank you for posting this novena Cathleen. I must admit I've never prayed to St. Patrick before despite my Irish heritage. For shame on me.

Though Erin may claim thee, the world knows thy fame
The faith of our fathers is our treasure too
How glorious the thought that they learned it from you!
Through crosses and trials, its fires burn bright
They show us the Way and the Truth and the Light
Great Saint, intercede that we always may be
Devoted and loyal, true children of thee
Our love and devotion be ever like thine
Our thoughts be of Jesus, our hearts be His shrine
And when to the end of life's path we have trod
Be near us, Great Bishop, Anointed of God!
