O Martyr invincible, who, for the honor of God and salvation of souls, did with firmness and constancy withstand the impiety of Herod even at the cost of thine own life, and did rebuke him openly for his wicked and dissolute life; by thy prayers obtain for us a brave and generous heart in order that we may overcome all human respect and openly profess our faith in loyal obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ, our Divine Master.
Our Father.....Hail Mary.....Glory Be
Pray for us, St. John the Baptist, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
O God, Who has made this day honorable in our eyes by the commemoration of the martyrdom of blessed John, grant unto Thy people the grace of spiritual joy and direct the minds of all Thy faithful to the way of everlasting salvation.
Through Christ, Our Lord. +Amen

I thank you for posting this Cathleen. I took the name of St. John the Baptist for my Confirmation name. SJB was never afraid to speak the truth even when it cost hm his life. May he make me and all of us as brave always.
Day 1

Day 1
For all members' intentions and for my family
St. John the Baptist, pray for us.
Day 1. "...in order that we may overcome all human respect and openly profess our faith in loyal obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ, our Divine Master."
Well, if anyone can help us to stand firm it is St. John, but only if we join him in prayer and penance.
I can't remember who said this, (maybe Archbishop Lefebvre), but it went something like this:
In the time of Imperial Rome, the situation was the pagan world turning from its darkness to the Light of Christ. The danger now is that having seen the Light, the world is turning back to the darkness of paganism.
I don't think I am quoting that quite right, but hope you all get the gist of it. Very profound, and spot on, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Archbishop who made that observation.
Yes Cathleen. At our present time, it seems even worse than Ancient Rome. There are many strange things happening like the mass shootings, groups that promote and commit senseless violence, young people who are violating against each other... It is almost as if there is some sort of provocation to pit brother against brother. It is very strange.
Amen!
There is so much evil in today's world. I felt like we need the help of St. John at this time, in more ways than one, for sometimes it feels like we are back in Ancient Rome. I hope I don't get my head served up on a silver platter, but may God grant me the strength to be brave and true to Him if called to do so.
