VENI CREATOR SPIRITUS

It is used at Vespers, Pentecost, Dedication of a Church, Confirmation, and Holy Orders and whenever the Holy Spirit is solemnly invoked. A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite it. A plenary indulgence is granted if it is recited on January 1st or on the feast of Pentecost.

VENI, Creator Spiritus, mentes tuorum visita, imple superna gratia quae tu creasti pectora.	COME, Holy Spirit, Creator blest, and in our souls take up Thy rest; come with Thy grace and heavenly aid to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.
Qui diceris Paraclitus, altissimi donum Dei, fons vivus, ignis, caritas, et spiritalis unctio.	O comforter, to Thee we cry, O heavenly gift of God Most High, O fount of life and fire of love, and sweet anointing from above.
Tu, septiformis munere, digitus paternae dexterae, Tu rite promissum Patris, sermone ditans guttura.	Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known; Thou, finger of God's hand we own; Thou, promise of the Father, Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue.
Accende lumen sensibus: infunde amorem cordibus: infirma nostri corporis virtute firmans perpeti.	Kindle our sense from above, and make our hearts o'erflow with love; with patience firm and virtue high the weakness of our flesh supply.
Hostem repellas longius, pacemque dones protinus: ductore sic te praevio vitemus omne noxium.	Far from us drive the foe we dread, and grant us Thy peace instead; so shall we not, with Thee for guide, turn from the path of life aside.
Per te sciamus da Patrem, noscamus atque Filium; Teque utriusque Spiritum credamus omni tempore.	Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow the Father and the Son to know; and Thee, through endless times confessed, of both the eternal Spirit blest.
Deo Patri sit gloria, et Filio, qui a mortuis surrexit, ac Paraclito, in saeculorum saecula. Amen.	Now to the Father and the Son, Who rose from death, be glory given, with Thou, O Holy Comforter, henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.

WE HAVE ADDED TO THIS NOVENA THE INTENTIONS OF FATHER REGIS DE CACQUERAY.  THIS DOES NOT EXCLUDE OUR INTENTION TO MAKE REPARATION TO THE SACRED AND IMMACULATE HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY.  IT IS SIMPLY ADDED TO IT.

"Let us appeal to Heaven for our Superior General, for his Assistants, for our bishops, so that the graces of light and strength of which they have need may be granted to them so that they main remain firm in the good combat of the Faith in so dire circumstances. We owe our four bishops an immense debt of gratitude and we beseech the Good God to give us the joy of celebrating, on June 30, 2013, the beautiful silver jubilee of their episcopacy.


Let us also ask for graces for ourselves and for each other, we have the greatest need of it. In all the houses of the Society, we begin this evening the novena of the "Veni Creator" sung until the feast of Pentecost and which you may join."

This novena is especially in reparation to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary, as well as for the restoration of Holy Mother Church.

But please add in your own private intentions as well!

I agree, a most powerful novena and one sorely needed now.

This is a good novena*well they are all good* but I like this one.  Very powerful.

Good way to prepare for Pentecost.

Cathleen, I'm still saying the prayer to Saint Joseph the workman everyday.  It's a great prayer and thnx for finding it.

~Glad you like that prayer.  It is a personal favorite of my mother's. :-)  I like it too...it keeps me "going" sometimes, when I get bogged down with work!  St. Joseph helps keep things in perspective.
