Event Description

To thee, O blessed Joseph, do we have recourse in our tribulation, and having implored the help of thy thrice-holy Spouse, we confidently invoke thy patronage also.  By that charity wherewith thou was united to the immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and by that fatherly affection with which thou did embrace the Child Jesus, we beseech thee and humbly pray that thou would look graciously upon the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by His Blood, and assist us in our needs by thy power and strength.  Most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, protect the chosen people of Jesus Christ; keep far from us, most loving father, all blight of error and corruption; mercifully assist us from heaven, most mighty defender, in this our conflict with the powers of darkness; and even as of old thou did rescue the Child Jesus from the supreme peril of His life, so now defend Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and all adversity.  Keep us one and all under thy continual protection, that supported by thy example and assistance, we may be enabled to lead a holy life, die a happy death and come at last to the possession of everlasting blessedness in heaven.

+Amen+

Please say the following prayer at least once a day in honor of St. Joseph during the month of March.  This prayer is customarily said after the recitation of the Rosary.  We need St. Joseph's help and protection more than ever.

In answer to Linda Silva's question below, I use 2 sources for the Saint Joseph prayer composed by Pope Leo XIII in 1889. This is the prayer added at the end of the Rosary in October.

The first is a prayer card from Catholic Prayer Cards in Tallahassee, FL which uses "...O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness..."

The second is from "Vade Mecum," a beautiful daily 77 page prayer book published by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP), which uses "...O most mighty protector, from thy place in Heaven, graciously help us in this our conflict with the powers of darkness..." [from 1st edition, 2018, page 71] I like this book because it has most prayers in both English and Latin, including this prayer.

I hope this helps.

In the Saint Joseph Novena for the month of March there is a part of the novena which I am not sure is correct.  Can someone help me understand?  Here it is:

Most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, protect the chosen people of Jesus Christ; keep far from us, most loving father, all blight of error and corruption; mercifully assist us from heaven, most mighty defender, in this our conflict with the powers of darkness; and even as of old thou did rescue the Child Jesus from the supreme peril of His life, so now defend Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and all adversity.

Should it be from heaven or to heaven?

Thank you for your help,

Linda Silva
