Putin Becomes President for Life

After a long hiatus to handle other projects, I am back at Fatima Perspectives! The layoff was useful in that it allowed enough time to pass to fulfill a prediction made here years ago: that Vladimir Putin would become dictator-for-life of the “former Soviet Union” as part of its “Chapter 11” reorganization.

As the Moscow Times reported on October 10, 2011, in a story comically headlined “Putin Joins Elite Club of Presidents-for-Life-istan” (a snide reference to Islamic dictatorships), puppet President Medvedev will step down as President to allow Putin to “run for election” — whose outcome is a foregone conclusion — in 2012. Medvedev having conveniently extended the term of the Russian President from four years to six years, this means Putin will be the President of Russia until 2024. In other words, forever, with this being merely the first step on the road to forever.

As the Moscow Times notes with disgust: “The most striking thing about the ruling tandem’s succession decision is not that they had settled on this arrangement four years ago and have been merely faking it ever since, but the incredibly arrogant way that it has been presented to the Russian public.”

Indeed. The article notes widespread ridicule, pessimism, and even some feeble resistance to this veritable coup d’etat. Not that any of that will make a difference. For as this column has observed for years, the non-existent “conversion of Russia” touted by the look-at-the-Emperor’s-beautiful-clothes crowd has been accompanied by nothing short of a “Fatima curse” — Heaven’s answer to the humanly devised substitutes Vatican bureaucrats have been interposing for decades between what Our Lady requested and what they deem expedient in their worldly wisdom.

Now get this: according to the Moscow Times Putin is now painting “an appealing future for the country in a ‘Eurasian Union’ with such ‘for-lifers’ as Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.” The intent is clear: to reestablish a New Soviet Union under Putin as its neo-Stalinist dictator. But, as the Moscow Times observes: “Fortunately for the tandem [Medvedev and Putin], it is blessed with a country that does not really feel it is owed an explanation.”

More than 27 years after the “Consecration that Never Was”, the downtrodden Russian masses now experience a “Conversion that Never Was”, while “that poor nation,” as Lucia called it, sinks deeper into despair, moral degradation and economic collapse. Yet we Catholics are expected to hail this state of affairs as a “miracle” produced by a ceremony in 1984 from which any mention of Russia was deliberately omitted.

So it goes in the Fatima revisionist Land of Make-Believe, whose king is the Vatican Secretary of State and whose subjects are the deluded adherents of his discredited Party Line. But in my next column I will reveal how things are changing in high places, and why we must never lose hope that our lowly voices are being heard in high places.

This has been coming for a long time....everyone with eyes to see saw that Putin is The Power in Russia, and that they merely rearranged deck chairs on the liner as far as "who is in charge."  I always told people that Putin is / was KGB and that the leopard doesn't change its spots.

"Such is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere." ~Tolkien

But I don't believe that Our Dear Lord and His Most Holy Mother are disregarding all of the prayers and sacrifices that the "small hands" have been making, esp. the Rosary Crusade.  She made her promise that "in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph and that Russia would be converted."  We know that she does keep her promises.

wise words Cathleen, I agree
