Our ‘Third Secret’ Was Written by Sr. Lucy,
Handwriting Expert Affirms
Marian T. Horvat, Ph.D.
TIA has received news from several readers about a recently published book by José María Zavala titled El Tercer Sécreto de Fátima (The Third Secret of Fatima). Since it was reported to have news about the Third Secret TIA published seven years ago on this site, I purchased the electronic version in Spanish and read it.
Most of the book rambles about, repeating the Socci theory of a supposed “4th Secret” (never very convincing to me) and the quite credible theme Fatima readers are familiar with: The bogus Third Secret with "a bishop in white" that Cardinals Sodano and Ratzinger released in 2000 was to hide the real Secret and, as then-Card. Ratzinger firmly stated, to close the history of the Fatima revelations and end any further speculations.
tercero secreto jose maria zavala
Zavala's book has one important fact to add to the Fatima discussion: confirmation of the handwriting of this 3rd Secret
But the speculations continued. Many Fatima experts and devotees – like us – have refused to accept this farce. Why? Because the Vatican-revealed secret included nothing about an apostasy in the Church that was reported by credible sources to be in the message: e.g. Cardinal Oddi, who said it regards “a revolution in the Church;” Cardinal Ciappi, who said it spoke of an apostasy that begins "at the top," JPII, who stated in Fulda in 1980 that it involved a catastrophe where millions would die, Fr. Malachi Martin, who said it was something that would frighten people and fill the confessionals, and even Card. Ratzinger, who in 1984 affirmed the secret was a prophecy and spoke of the dangers threatening the faith.
Further, the lengthy story released by Sodano and Ratzinger contradicts the words of Cardinal Ottaviani, Bishop Venancio, Canon Barthas and others who clearly stated that the Third Secret was written by Sr. Lucy on a single piece of paper, with about 25 lines of text.
Finally, the Vatican-released Secret had nothing to do with Portugal conserving the dogma of the faith, the final words of the Second Secret, to which Sister Lucy added "etc.," indicating more words of Our Lady about Portugal would follow in the Third Secret.
The new data of significance in Zavala's book is an analysis by a well-known and highly regarded Spanish graphologist – handwriting analyst – Begoña Slocker de Arce (here), whose long list of credentials are impressive. She compared the possible undisclosed one-page Third Secret – published by Tradition in Action on our Fatima Issues page on April 27, 2010 – with Sister Lucy's handwritten First and Second Secrets (written by her definitively on August 31, 1941).
After a detailed analysis and study of the two handwritings, the expert concluded in her report that "the 3rd document" – the Secret TIA published – had been drafted "by the same hand" as the first two documents known to be definitively written by Sr. Lucy of Fatima.
A careful scientific analysis and serious testimony
Just as each one has a particular way of walking, gesturing, laughing, walking, etc. so also the handwriting has a peculiar series of tendencies and features that differentiate it from others, Begoña Slocker explains. Writings can vary in many ways throughout one's life, she tells us, but there are innate "type gestures," intrinsic peculiarities and graphic personalizations that do not change over time. And these characteristics give the author unique marks that can always identify him.
For example, in the superimpositions of letters she made below from the questionable Third Secret Letter and the unquestionable letters written by Sr. Lucy in the First and Second secrets, she found small differences of vibration natural to spontaneous writing. Nonetheless, the linked letters characteristics, hand raises for punctuation, t-bars and other features distinguishable to the trained eye clearly demonstrate, in her view, a single, unique style.

After providing more samples of the techniques applied in the study, the graphologist concludes:
"In view of the above findings, it can be determined that, after a thorough analysis, there are qualitative and quantitative elements that the document in question, referred to here as the Unrevealed Third Part of the Secret of Fatima, was made by the same hand as that of the unquestioned documents corresponding to the First and Second Parts of the Secret of Fatima, written in fact by Sr. Lucia dos Santo in her Third Memoir of August 31, 1941.
"This opinion has been made as objectively as possible, taking into consideration both what can favor and cause injury to any parties involved and with my full realization of the penal sanctions that could be incurred if I disregard my duty as an expert.
"This I testify according to my full knowledge and understanding in Madrid, on the 8th day of December in the year 2016,
"[Signed] Begoña Slocker de Arce"
New Interest in the Third Secret posted by TIA
This evidence of a respected graphologist should raise new interest in the possible Third Secret posted on our website seven years ago. I recall very well when TIA first received the anonymous e-mail from a reader in Portugal. I sent it on to our website editor Atila Guimarães, who is always very suspicious, expecting him to reject it.
To my surprise, he expressed keen interest in it. In his opinion, it could very well be the real secret, since there was an appearance of authenticity in it: Its content certainly spoke of a tremendous apostasy inside the Church – in fact this is the opening statement. Its simplicity of form corresponded to that of the other two messages of Our Lady to three peasant children. The size of the document also matches perfectly - 25 lines, the thumbprint adding a note of authenticity.
It was worthwhile to present it to our audience, he decided. From the beginning he suggested that a handwriting comparison be made by an expert. You can read our careful translation of the letter and his commentaries here in our original posting. For our readers' convenience, I also transcribe it below in blue:
Possible Third Secret
Tuy September 1, 1944 or April 1, 1944
JMJ
Now I am going to reveal the third fragment of the secret: This part is the apostasy in the Church!
Our Lady showed us the individual who I describe as the 'holy Father' in front of a multitude that was cheering him.
But there was a difference from a true Holy Father, his devilish gaze, this one had the gaze of evil.
Then, after some moments we saw the same Pope entering a Church, but this Church was the Church of hell; there is no way to describe the ugliness of that place. It looked like a gray cement fortress with broken angles and windows similar to eyes; in the roof of the building it had a beak.
Next, we raised our eyes to Our Lady who said to us: You saw the apostasy in the Church; this letter can be opened by the Holy Father, but it must be announced after Pius XII and before 1960.
In the kingdom of John Paul II the cornerstone of Peter's grave must be removed and transferred to Fatima.
Because the dogma of the faith is not conserved in Rome, its authority will be removed and delivered to Fatima.
The cathedral of Rome must be destroyed and a new one built in Fatima.
If 69 weeks after this order is announced, Rome continues its abomination, the city will be destroyed.
Our Lady told us that this is written, [in] Daniel 9:24-25 and Matthew 21:42-44." (thumbprint)
Discussion & doubts
Posting the letter opened a discussion with readers, who jumped in it to give their opinions and pose their doubts (you can read the postings here).
All the readers agreed that the one we published was certainly more authentic than the one released by the Vatican in 2000. To the objections, Mr. Guimarães gave responses. Many of these questions are addressed by Mr. Zavala, often with arguments quite similar to the ones we posted (he does not quote his sources, I noted with disappointment).
During this discussion, Mr. Guimarães posted reasons to support the released text; he addressed doubts such as how Our Lady could name John Paul II long before his papacy (she also named Pius XII before his election), and why Sister Lucy would have written Juan Pablo (Spanish) instead of João Paulo (Portuguese)
TIA also posted a photo-collage of the evil gaze of then-pontiff Benedict XVI. It would not be difficult to make an equally horrid photomontage of Francis' gaze (see here for gazes of Paul VI, Benedict and Francis, among others). We also showed pictures of Novus Ordo churches that match the description of the 'Church of hell' reported in the letter, and confirmed that John Paul II had indeed placed the mentioned cornerstone at the new Church at Fatima.
Evil gazes of Popes
Evil gazes of post-Conciliar popes
Mr. Guimarães even extensively addressed the question of possible falsified data in the letter, which could have been made with the precise intent to discredit its authenticity and, thus, bury the authentic message definitively.
But, it appears this funeral has not taken place yet. With this strong new forensic evidence by Begoña Slocker de Arce, who testifies that her conclusion was not influenced by any interested party and stakes her high reputation on the objectivity of the results, it seems that the question should be re-opened.
In this 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Fatima, it is both interesting and opportune that an official testimony of the authenticity of the handwriting should come to light.
With the recent earthquakes shaking even Rome, one wonders if Our Lady will no longer be able to hold back the hand of her Son, so offended by sins and apostasy, and the Eternal City, which survived many earthly empires, will disappear in a heavenly punishment for the apostasy of the Conciliar Church.
And, then, what will come? A new Rome in Fatima? Certainly, it is an interesting hypothesis.
miracle of the sun
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun. The testimony of the authenticity of Sr. Lucy's writing in the posted Third Secret is one surprise. Are there others to come?

Thank you Nestor.
As for the pretended secret released by Cardinal Ratzinger I have said from day one that I do not believe there is even an ounce of truth to it. No way no how.
This confirms my suspicions.
No offense to H.H. Pope Benedict whom I love deeply, but even he said he was forced to release it and that it went against his conscience to do so.
July 4, 2000
Dear Friends and Benefactors,
So the Third Secret of Fatima was made public after all, by the Vatican, one week ago. Or was it? Amidst all the confusion generated by the Vatican's distraction maneuver of June 26, we will need experts on Fatima (of which I am not one) to disentangle the Truth. And the Society of St. Pius X will before long give its best judgment on the matter, which I do not mean here to pre-empt. However, it seems to me that a few essential guidelines can be laid down already, especially if one knows the third volume of Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity's excellent work "The Whole Truth about Fatima" (Immaculate Heart Publications, 1986, Box 1028, Buffalo, NY 14205, USA).
First and foremost, it seems to me that there is one very clear and simple proof that what the Vatican released on June 26 as being the text of "the Third Secret" is not at all that text of the Third Secret which was sealed in an envelope by Sister Lucy in 1944, was opened by Pope John XXIII in 1959, was eagerly awaited by Catholics all over the world in 1960, but was kept disappointingly hidden by the Vatican at that time and ever since. Here is that proof:
The Third Secret as sealed in an envelope by Sister Lucy and handed over by her to the Church authorities on June 17, 1944, was written on a single sheet of paper. Sister Lucy, who wrote it, said so. Msgr. Venancio, who carried it, said so. Cardinal Ottaviani, who read it, said so (W.T.F., III pp. 481 and 651). On the contrary the June 26 text, as reprinted by the Vatican in Lucy's own handwriting, spreads over four pages.
Therefore the text which on June 26 the Vatican did all it could to make us think is the text of the Third Secret, is at any rate not the text of the crucial Third Secret which Lucy sealed in an envelope and which all true Catholics are waiting for. The real Third Secret is still hidden. What else was to be expected from this Vatican?
Then what is the June 26 text? Let the Fatima experts decide. If it was written down by Sister Lucy on four pages of a notebook handed over with the sealed envelope on June 17, 1944 (W.T.F., III, p. 49), then maybe it can be called part of the Third Secret in a broad sense, but that is certainly not what people usually mean by the expression " the Third Secret", which here also we will use exclusively for the one-page text sealed in the envelope.
Having then clarified our terms, let us give further reasons why the June 26 text is not only different from, but also, at least apparently and for now, rather less interesting than the Third Secret.
Firstly, we know that when Sister Lucy made known in 1942 the first two parts of the Secret, she held back what she called the third part because she said she had not received permission to reveal it (W.T.F., III, p. 35). Even after her diocesan bishop ordered her to write it down, she could not put pen to paper for two months because of something like a diabolical interference. It took an apparition of Our Lady to overcome all the obstacles (pp. 45-48). But what comparable difficulty could Lucy have had in penning the June 26 text of multiple martyrdoms?
Secondly, we know that the Third Secret was framed between two sentences revealed by Lucy in her fourth version of the Second Secret: first comes "In Portugal will be kept always the dogma of the Faith...", then comes the Third Secret, then comes "... in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph". This means that the Third Secret consists in a prophecy uttered by the Mother of God. But the June 26 text consists, like the first part of the Secret, in a vision revealed by Lucy.
Thirdly, the Third Secret sealed in an envelope by Lucy in 1944 and opened only by Pope John XXIII in 1959, was, as everybody knew, to be made public at the latest in 1960. This was at the request of the Mother of God (W.T.F., III, pp. 469-479) because, said Lucy, by 1960 the prophecy would be clearer. Yet the Vatican authorities, from Pope John XXIII onwards, have kept the text a close secret. But what ever in the June 26 text needed to be so closely hidden for the last 40 years?
Fourthly, over the same 40 years a certain number of high-up churchmen like Cardinals Ottaviani and Ratzinger have notwithstanding been allowed to read the Third Secret. When questioned about it afterwards, their guarded words all nevertheless pointed in the same direction, namely, the Third Secret concerns the Faith. Which makes sense. For how could Lucy have had no problem penning the second part of the Secret with its threat as grave as that of Russia spreading its errors throughout the world, and yet almost have been broken by the penning of the third part of Secret, unless the Third Secret were much graver still? And how could it be that much graver unless, instead of concerning Russia and the world, it concerned the Faith and the Church? But the June 26 text does not concern the Faith. It concerns only an Angel, penance, climbing a hill, martyrdoms, etc..
On the other hand if the Third Secret contains a prophecy of Our Lady that the Catholic churchmen around 1960 will gravely endanger the Faith, does that not perfectly explain, firstly why the pious Sister Lucy could hardly bring herself to write it down, secondly why it fits in between, on the contrary, Portugal keeping the dogma of the Faith and the Immaculate heart in the end triumphing, thirdly why the Vatican churchmen especially in 1960 sought to silence the Third Secret directly condemning the revolutionary Council they were on the brink of launching, and fourthly why the Third Secret directly concerns the Faith?
Thus what we know for certain about the hidden Third Secret does correspond to a dramatic warning from Our Lady to the Conciliar churchmen and their followers, it does not correspond to the June 26 text. It certainly looks as though on June 26, once again, the Vatican authorities kept hidden, as they have done for the last 40 years, the message of Our Lady directly condemning the One World religion of their man-centred Newchurch. Is it wishful thinking to hope that this June 26 evasive action or distraction maneuver will serve merely to rouse Catholics to demand even more the release of the Third Secret? The Mother of God is far mightier than the Devil, but she does need our prayers with which to go before her Son to obtain such a grace.
Meanwhile here are two other versions of the hidden Third Secret, neither of them authoritative but both of them interesting. The first is the reconstruction of the Third Secret's contents by Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, at the end of his third volume's patient detective work on all the available clues and evidence (W.T.F., III, p. 841):
"While in Portugal the dogma of the Faith will still be kept, in many nations, perhaps throughout the world, the Faith will be lost. The Church's shepherds will fail gravely in their duties of state. Through their fault, consecrated souls will in large numbers let themselves be seduced by pernicious errors spread everywhere. The time will have come for the decisive battle between the Virgin and the Devil. A wave of diabolical disorientation will sweep over the world. Satan will reach up to the topmost height of the Church. He will blind the shepherds' minds and harden their hearts, because God will have left them to their own devices as a punishment for their refusal to obey the requests of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It will be the great apostasy announced for "the last times", the "False lamb", the "False Prophet" handing the Church over to "the Beast", according to the prophecy of the Apocalypse".
And here is another version of the Third Secret, as supposedly heard by a French priest in Germany in 1994, in the middle of listening to a CD of religious music. At one point the music faded into the background, and he heard a normal (not inner) voice say quite clearly, " The Church will bleed from all her wounds." Then he heard the following:
"A wicked Council will be planned and prepared which will change the face of the Church. Many souls will lose the Faith, confusion will reign everywhere. The sheep will seek in vain for their shepherds. A schism will rend my Son's tunic. It will be the end of the times, announced in Scripture and recalled by me in many places. The abomination of abominations will reach its peak and call down the chastisement announced at La Salette. The arm of my Son that I can no longer hold back, will come down on this world which will have to expiate its crimes. All that one will hear of is wars and revolutions. The elements of nature will be shaken and will strike anguish into the best (most courageous) of men. The Church will bleed from all her wounds. Blessed those who persevere and seek refuge in my Heart, for in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph..."
After which, all that the priest heard was, "That is the Third Secret of Fatima". The identity of this priest is known, but he prefers to remain unnamed. He is apparently Traditional, without belonging to the Society of St. Pius X or the Fraternity of St. Peter. He is always in a cassock. He is not sedevacantist. He passes for being worthy of belief.
Of course what he says that he heard carries with it no proof that it is the authentic text of the Third Secret. Note however that it corresponds in full to Lucy's anguish, to the Second Secret frame, to the Vatican churchmen's silence and to the centrality of the Faith, as listed above. Note also that it is a text perfectly clear, like the first and second parts of the Fatima Secret, but unlike the text of June 26. Finally, this priest's version of the Third Secret corresponds fully with the real situation of Church and world around us for the last 40 years.
Dear friends, let us pray and do penance. As Our Lady prophetically told the three children of Fatima, our duty of state is, today, penance enough. Just to live like a Catholic maintaining the state of grace in a world decomposing around us becomes daily more heroic. In patience we shall possess our souls, and if we persevere to the end, we shall be saved. Make if at all possible the five first Saturdays---in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Most sincerely yours in Christ,
There seem to be more Third Secrets floating around than Sister Lucies or Pope Paul VI s !
I think the version Bishop Williamson gives seems more credible than the TIA version. Just my opinion.
Atila Guimaraes has done some detective work on that "Third Secret". He is the result of his work - the "Secret" re-arranged: (You can read his whole explanation here:-http://traditioninaction.org/HotTopics/g33ht_Decipher.htm
Now I am going to reveal the third fragment of the secret;
This part is the apostasy in the Church!
Our Lady showed us a Church, but this was a
Church of hell, and an individual who I describe as the 'holy

but there was a difference from a true holy Father, the gaze,

Then we saw the same Pope entering a Church,

ugliness of that place, it looked like a gray cement fortress
with broken angles and windows similar to eyes;
it had a beak in the roof of the building.
Next, we raised our eyes to Our Lady who
said to us: You saw the apostasy in the Church.
Because the dogma of the faith is not conserved in Rome, its authority
will be removed and delivered to Fatima. The cathedra [or chair] of Rome will be
destroyed and a new one built in Fatima.
In the kingdom of John Paul II the cornerstone of Peter's tomb
will be removed and transferred to Fatima.
This letter can be opened by the holy Father, but it must be
announced after Pius XII and before 1960.
If 69 weeks after this order is announced, Rome continues its
abomination, the city will be destroyed.
Our Lady told us that this is written, [in] Daniel 9:24-25 and Matthew 21:42-44.

This supposed "Third Secret" was announced on the TIA website seven years ago, well more than 69 weeks ago. Last I heard, Rome was still standing.
Which Rome must we talk about. The Rome, city of wonderful pizzas and pastas and tourist attractions? Or that Eternal Rome spoken of by Archbishop Lefebvre, perhaps that same Rome meant by Our Lady of La Salette when she said it would lose the Faith and become the Seat of the Antichrist?
