COMPANIES WHICH ARE USING ABORTED FETUS' IN THEIR PRODUCTS

How Cells from an Aborted Fetus are Used to Create Novel Flavor Enhancers

Story at-a-glance

  • The biotech company Senomyx creates novel flavor enhancing compounds for the processed food industry in order to make foods and beverages that taste good while reducing sugar and salt content. Customers include Pepsi Co., Ajinomoto Co. (the maker of aspartame and meat glue), Nestlé and others
  • The genetically engineered flavor enhancers work by triggering taste receptors on your tongue, effectively tricking your taste buds into sensing sweetness, saltiness, or “coolness”
  • Senomyx has created a taste testing system that provides scientists with biochemical responses and electronic readouts when a flavor ingredient interacts with their patented receptor, letting them know whether or not they’ve “hit the mark” in terms of flavor. This process uses human kidney cells originating from an electively aborted human fetus
  • These fetal kidney cells (HEK293) have been cloned for decades, as they offer a reliable way to produce new proteins using genetic engineering. Senomyx has engineered HEK293 cells to function like human taste receptor cells
  • Flavor enhancers do not need to be listed on food labels, falling instead under the generic category of artificial and/or natural flavors

Back in January, Oklahoma Senator Ralph Shortey proposed legislation to ban the production of aborted fetal cell-derived flavor chemicals in his home state. If passed, S.B. 1418 would also reportedly ban the sale of any products that contain flavor chemicals derived from human fetal tissue, which includes Pepsi products as well as products produced by Kraft and Nestle (http://www.naturalnews.com)

Below is the response from Ocean Spray to my email.  It looks like they do not use the aborted fetus' even though some of their products are manufactured by Pepsico.

I'll remove them from the list above.

Hello Mrs. Anderson,
The Ocean Spray single-serve products manufactured by PepsiCo are made to Ocean Spray's specifications. Our products contain no ingredients developed or tested by Senomyx.

Ocean Spray does not contract with Senomyx nor do we use them for any type of product development or testing.

If you have other questions or concerns about our products, we are happy to answer them. Please call us at: 1-800-662-3263.

Tastes Good, Good For You,

And Your Friends at Ocean Spray

I am happy to read this response from Ocean Spray. Thank you for posting  Dawn.

I called PepsiCo and talked to a public relations person who said they absolutely do not use these horrible products.  She said to look on their website and see proof.  She then put me on hold and never came back.  I found nothing on the website.

Yes, in order to break the boycott which was hurting them they told everyone they stopped using it and then it was learned they lied.  They are still using it to my knowledge but I am looking deeper into this to find out exactly what is going on.
