Sorry for the confusion. The sole intention for the perpetual rosary is now the Conversion of Russia. Your previous (personal) intentions are now secondary and are private to you. There is no requirement for an additional decade for the Conversion of Russia, nor for your personal intentions. HOWEVER, I am sure Our Blessed Mother would be greatly pleased for any additional decades of Her rosary you wish to say, for any reason, at any time.
Thank you so much for your birthday wishes,Nicola. So kind of you . Your thoughtfulness warms my heart. Such treasured gifts from heaven above, FRIENDS. Smiles Gloria
I am so, so sorry! For some reason I thought I sent you all the information already. I'm so sorry.
Yes you would join your group by going there and clicking where it says "Join" and then simply begin saying your decade each day.
Pennsylvania is my home state and the one I consider the most beautiful but honestly from what I have seen of New Zealand in movies and books etc I can't think of anything on this earth that even comes close to the unbelievable beauty of your country. It's simply astonishing. How blessed you are to live there. In such surroundings ones mind must be lifted to God all the time :)
I think it comes from the idea of water as cleansing us from stains. Holy water is used for so much more than we realize - blessing homes, religious objects, our cars, etc. - and is a very effective "remedy" against evil, as St. Teresa of Avila has said. Holy water is also used extensively to bless the coffins and graves of the dead at funerals. I think, because it is blessed, the holy water can even help relieve the souls in Purgatory. They are usually pictured as being in purifying flames, so water is meant to help "quench" those flames.
I hope this makes sense? Probably someone else has a better idea of where this custom came from.
