"I Believe in Love" Day 15, Part Five----Abandonment to Jesus

Excerpts from the book “I believe in love”.

DAY 15

PART FIVE

ABANDONMENT TO JESUS

ABANDONMENT IS A PRACTICAL AND ACTUAL APPLICATION OF AN OBSESSION: THE WILL OF GOD.  THAT IS WHY CERTAIN PERSONS IN THE WORLD, MEN OF THE PEOPLE, THIS PEASANT ON HIS FARM, THAT WORKER IN THE FACTORY, ARE TRUE SAINTS----BECAUSE THEY HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT THE WILL OF GOD IS EVERYTHING AND THEY ARE DISPOSED TO PREFER IT TO EVERYTHING ELSE.  FROM THE MOMENT I AM IN THE WILL OF GOD, EVERYTHING IS FINE.

THIS IS WHERE THE SUPERNATURAL INDIFFERENCE OF THE SAINTS COMES FROM: JOY OR PAIN, CONSOLATION OR DRYNESS, LIGHT OR DARKNESS, ADULATION OR CRITICISM, HONEY OR GALL, HEALTH OR SICKNESS, LIFE OR DEATH.  ECCE ANCILLA DOMINI: “BEHOLD THE HANDMAID OF THE LORD.”  FIAT VOLUNTAS TUA: “THY WILL BE DONE.” SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTUM: “BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD.”  THAT SUMS UP THE SANCTITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN.

REMEMBER THAT EACH EVENT IN YOUR LIFE BRINGS YOU THE WILL OF GOD.  IT IS OUR LORD WHOM YOU CAN EMBRACE IN EVERYTHING THAT COMES TO YOU.  I BLESS HIM, THEREFORE, HOWEVER MY NATURE MAY PROTEST.  IT WILL PROTEST.  THERE WILL BE INTERIOR SEETHING; THERE WILL BE REVOLT OF THE SENSES; THERE WILL BE MOANING.  BUT I SHALL BLESS HIM FOR EVERYTHING, WITH ALL MY WILL, UNITED TO HIS.  I SHALL SAY IN UNION WITH OUR HOLY MOTHER MARY, “FIAT! MAGNIFICAT!” IN THE MIDST OF THE TEMPEST, AND THUS I SHALL ALWAYS HAVE A HEAVENLY PEACE IN THE DEPTHS OF MY SOUL.

THE PEACE PERHAPS, WILL NOT BE FELT; IT WILL BE THE PEACE OF WHICH ST. PAUL SPEAKS, “WHICH SURPASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING.”

YOU SEE THAT THIS DOCTRINE IS NOT SIMPLY ONE OF LETTING THINGS BE.  FAR FROM IT!  MOREOVER THE TENDER MASTER WHO KNOWS THE PRICE OF THE CROSS AND THE THORNS, WILL KNOW HOW TO BE CONSIDERATE TOWARD YOU.  HE WILL PERMIT PLENTY OF HUMILIATIONS AND PLENTY OF DECEPTIONS.  HE WILL DESTROY MANY FALSE DREAMS.  THE DIVINE SURGEON WILL PUT THE LANCET STRAIGHT INTO THE ABSCESS, HAPPY THAT YOU ALLOW HIM TO DO IT.  BUT DO NOT BE AFRAID---NO, DO NOT BE AFRAID!  HIS HAND IS VERY GENTLE, VERY SKILLFUL, MOVED BY HIS HEART, WHICH LOVES YOU TO THE POINT OF FOOLISHNESS.

TO ABANDON YOURSELF THUS TO OUR LORD IS TO PERMIT HIM TO CARRY OUT HIS WHOLE WORK OF LOVE.  HE WANTS US TO FOLLOW HIM, THE KING, CRUCIFIED AND CROWNED WITH THORNS, EVEN TO CALVARY---BUT ALSO TO THE RESURRECTION, TO HIS HEAVENLY GLORY!
